The Underhall

House Undermoor’s seat of power is The Underhall, an ancient dwarven hall built into the side of the smallest mountain of a mountain range to the south of the capital, Kingstown. It is fortified to the extreme as, in the side of the mountain are platforms that are accessible from tunnels within the mountain upon which archers can fire down at attackers, and two large exterior walls lead up to the original entrance of the hall. The actual entrance of the hall towers 100ft high into the mountain, with several balconies set into it upon which giant catapults or quadbow racks for defenders to use sit. Within the hall there are three levels set in stepped storeys. The first storey is a vast, long hall with small sub-halls splitting off from it. This storey is where much of the commoners go to work, with forges, tanners etc. Upon the second storey there are a few smaller hallways, with a warren-like labyrinth of hallways where all of the commoners sleep. This storey also consists of the arms stocks and guard-houses, and provides access to the platforms that sit on the mountainside. The third storey consists of the nobles’ quarters.
The Underhall has a garrison of 100 soldiers and 15 knights, and can call upon 600 soldiers, 50 knights and 600 peasant levies when it calls its banners from the surrounding lands under its control.
